Sands of Alashizar Update: February

So some changes have happened to Alashizar the biggest being the races.  All of the races based on The Fallen Kingdom have been completely rewritten to better fit the power curve of the setting and better fit with the new setting rules that have been drafted. Additionally, there's some beginning work to possibly have even more rules overhauls to the point of this becoming it's own system in the same vein that Pathfinder and Mutants & Masterminds were born from D&D 3.5. Finally, A proof version of the world map is finally mocked up. The art isn't finalized, but it's at least of a quality worth sharing.

My Biggest Problem & Possible Fix for 5th Edition

I'm going to start with saying the D&D 5th Edition is easily my favorite version of Dungeons & Dragons as a whole. It's not my favorite system, but if I'm wanting to play something that literally says D&D on it then this is my go to. That said the system isn't perfect. I could go on and on about small issues like the much needed reformatted Ranger class or woefully under developed down time system, but for the most part those are either nit picks or at least improving from earlier editions.

New Setting: The Sands of Alashizar

So the time has come to start making posts. This new blog is going to be about parenting AND gaming, but I figured I'd start with something anyone following me here from The GM's Table would (hopefully) like to see and that's a new setting... "The Sands of Alashizar"

Shifting Priorities

For the past 2 years I've written my blog The GM's Table and while its been great and I hope many of my reader will follow me here I felt it's time for a change. 3 years ago I became a stay at home dad to a very special little girl and while I still run and research games I also am forced into tea parties and changing diapers. About a year ago we got a diagnosis that said just how "special" our girl is and because of that my writing dried up quite a bit. I love games, but its just not all I want to talk about. Don't get me wrong I also don't want to just talk about dad stuff, but the only site was 100% gaming and well I'm not 100% gaming anymore, I'm also a stay at home dad who's learning that being a GM for over a decade might have been best prep for being a parent I could have asked for and that's what The Stay At Home DM is going to be about. Parenting by a gamer, for gamers.
